We do not collect or store your data. When AI features are used, we take every measure to minimize what is shared.
1. Overview
Minutes Journal is designed with privacy at its core. We do not collect, store, or share your personal data or journal entries. All data is stored locally on your device, with the exception of content you choose to process using AI-powered features.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any identifying information
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Crash reports or diagnostics
- Photos, microphone, or camera data
- Payment or billing information
3. Local Storage
All journal entries, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use an AI-powered feature, in which case only the content necessary to fulfill that specific request is transmitted.
4. Subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, store, or have access to your payment information or Apple ID. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle payment data.
5. AI Features & OpenAI
Some features in Minutes Journal are powered by OpenAI's GPT models. When you use these features, the relevant text you provide is sent to OpenAI's API for processing.
We take the following steps to protect your privacy when using AI features:
- We use OpenAI's API with data training opt-out enabled, meaning your data is not used to train OpenAI's models
- Only the content needed for a specific AI request is transmitted — we do not send your full journal history
- We do not store the content sent to or received from OpenAI on any server
Please be aware that when using AI features, your content is subject to OpenAI's API data handling practices. We encourage you to review OpenAI's Privacy Policy for more information.
AI features are optional. You can use Minutes Journal as a standard journaling app without ever triggering AI-powered features.
6. Third-Party Services
The only third-party services involved in the operation of this App are:
- Apple App Store — for app distribution and subscription billing
- OpenAI — for AI-powered features, used only when explicitly triggered by you
We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
7. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected by us, the App is designed to be safe for all ages. However, we recommend parental guidance when using AI features, as content is processed by a third-party service (OpenAI).
8. Data Security
Your journal data is protected by your device's built-in security features. We encourage you to enable a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID on your device. Since we do not operate any servers storing your data, there is no central database that could be breached.
9. Data Deletion
You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the App from your device. Since no data is stored on our servers, uninstalling the App permanently removes all locally stored data. Content previously processed by OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's own data retention policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change our data practices, we will update this Privacy Policy and revise the date at the top of this page. We will notify users of material changes through the App or App Store update notes.
